Dear Colleague,
I have pleasure in enclosing herewith details of this Designated Open Meet to be held at our 8 Lanes, 25m International Pool, at the Barnet Copthall Sports Centre, Hendon, London, NW4.
Also enclosed are copies of the different Entry Forms for Male and Female competitors and an Entries Summary Form. Please photo-copy as many of these forms as you need.
As in our previous "Last Chance" Meets, the main reasons for holding this Meet are to give swimmers a real opportunity to compete at a good level and a chance to achieve Qualifying Times for the National Championships (Sheffield - 9th/12th July) or the National Age Groups (Leeds - 3rd/8th August). Naturally, times achieved will apply to other Meets as well.
We hope that members of your Club will be able to join us as I am sure the standard of swimming will once again be such that it will fully motivate your swimmers and hopefully this will encourage them to achieve their own personal objectives.
TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THIS YEAR, COMPETITORS MUST HAVE ACHIEVED THE RELEVANT ENTRY STANDARD TIME OR MAYBE THE CONSIDERATION TIME.
ENTRY STANDARD TIMES Please see the enclosed separate sheets for these.
For each Age Group in each event, the times on those sheets indicated by the larger numerals are the ENTRY STANDARD TIMES and the smaller numerals indicate CONSIDERATION TIMES.
Swimmers equalling or bettering the Entry Standard Time for their Age Group in any event will be given preference for that event, until such date as the event is fully subscribed.
In any event which does not become fully subscribed by the Latest Closing Date (16th May) swimmers who have not achieved their Entry Standard Time but have achieved the Consideration Time may be accepted on the basis of preference normally being given to the fastest of such times when compared to their Entry Standard Time.
Each of the AGE GROUPS for this Meet is a single year, except for the 17+ category which is for swimmers born 1981, or earlier. As is normal, ages will be as at 31St December 1998
Please note that we have included 50m Sprints in all strokes this year.
The Entry Forms should be completed as clearly as possible, using BLOCK CAPITALS where appropriate (except for the signatures!). This is particularly important where the swimmers' names are concerned as we do like to spell their names fully and correctly on the programmes.
Each swimmer should give their FULL FORENAME, as well as their SURNAME. As this is a Designated Meet it is essential that these names are given exactly as registered with the A.S.A. For example, Christopher should not be abbreviated to Chris; etc. Where indicated, their complete A.S.A. REGISTRATION NUMBER and their YEAR of Birth must both be completed.
PLEASE USE THE CORRECT FORMS FOR MALE AND FEMALE COMPETITORS..
LATEST CLOSING DATE IS SATURDAY 16th MAY. ENTRY FEE - £3.00 PER EVENT.
Completed Entry Forms, with the covering remittance, should be sent to me, accompanied by an adequately stamped Self-Addressed Envelope (minimum size 9" x 6", or CS) for the Time Cards to be sent to you. We plan to have the Time Cards in the post to you by Sunday 24th May.

To limit the duration of the sessions, as required by A.S.A. Laws, we must reserve the right not to accept some entries for any event which becomes over-subscribed.

NOTES
1 The times given above are COMPETITION STARTING TIMES.
2 WARM-UP commences 45 minutes earlier in each Case.
3 Each of the events is only for the Age Groups given below it.
4 All events will have heats in which competitors, irrespective of Age Group, will be allocated lanes on the basis of their submitted entry times.
5 In all 50m and 100m events there will be a separate final for each Age Group, determined by heat times, except where there would be fewer than four swimmers competing.
6 All events of 200m or more will be "Heat Declared Winner
7 Awards will be made to the finalists (first three in HDW) in each Age Group in each event.
8 To be considered, all entry applications must be made on our official entry forms only.
