THIS EVENT IS DESIGNATED BY THE ASA FOR ENTRY INTO NATIONAL COMPETITIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS

INFORMATION SHEET

Please read the following in conjunction with the enclosed plan of the Pool area

1. The competition will be held under the laws of the A.S.A. The Meet has been designated by the Northern Counties A.S.A. as a qualifying event for the 1998 National Competitions

2. Heats are arranged according to submitted entry times. The fastest swimmers per age group, i.e. 10/11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17/Over will compete in the Finals: swim offs will be held if necessary. The 200m events, 400m freestyle and I.M. together with the 800m and 1500m freestyle will be HDW events.

3. The warm ups will be split - 20 minutes each. Boys will warm up first in Session 1, 3 and 5. Girls will warm up first in Sessions 2,4 and 6. COACHES MUST BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR SWIMMERS DURING WARM UP. THE SMALL POOL WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR WARM UP AND SWIM DOWN ONLY. Strictly No Diving in the Small PooL If this facility is abused it will be withdrawn. It will be the responsibility of the Coaches to ensure that their swimmers use the small pool for the purpose intended.

4. All swimmers must deposit their cards in the boxes provided at least 45 minutes before the start of each session.

5. LATE POSTING OF CARDS
Entry cards which have not been posted before the boxes have been closed may be accepted at the sole discretion of the session referee. Any such acceptance will be considered on a 'first come first served' basis only within the parameters of the above conditions and A.S.A guidance 'Secondary Card System'

6. Swimmers should collect their cards from the racks by the small pool and report to the marshalling point 6 heats prior to their race. If a swimmer is not ready when called for a race he/she will unfortunately, be deleted from that event.

7. 'OVER THE TOP' starts will be used for all events except backstroke events and finals. This means that at the end of a race the swimmer will stay in the water until after the start of the next race, and then leave the water quickly BY THE SIDE of the pool.

8. ALL RACES WILL BE 'ONE START ONLY' RACES in accordance with A.S.A. law 509.1.1 this amendment to the promoters rule and conditions gives notice of the suspension of the false start procedure as detailed in Law 509.2.2 and 509.2.3 and that a swimmer shall be disqualified for any false start as defined in Law 509.2.1. If the starting signal sounds before the disqualification is declared, the race shall continue and the swimmer or swimmers shall be disqualified upon completion of the race. If disqualification is declared before the starting signal, the signal shall not be given, but the remaining swimmers shall be stood down, reminded of the penalties and started again.

SWIMMERS NOTE: YOUR FIRST START IS YOUR ONLY START!!!!!!!!

9 Reserve swimmers should post their cards in the usual way. From past experience reserves do usually get a swim. However, if we cannot accommodate a reserve, then, provided the card has been posted by the swimmer in the entry box, a refund will be given.

10. If finalists do not intend to compete in the final they are requested to inform the recorders as soon as possible. Reserves are requested to report for the final of their event.

11. Presentation ceremonies will be held at the end of the Saturday morning and afternoon sessions, the beginning of the 11.15am Sunday morning session for the distance events and at the end of the Sunday morning session. Presentations for events held during Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon will be made during the swimming session in order that competitors with a long distance to travel can leave when they wish. - We hope this will not detract from the events but past experience has shown that during these sessions the will to stay for presentations is somewhat lacking!! First second and third in each event are requested to report to the marshalling area 4 finals before the end of the session. Please check the result sheet and listen to the announcements. If swimmers are not available at the time of their presentation, the presentation will go ahead without them so as not to delay proceedings.

12. Awards will be made to the first, second and third in individual age groups in each of the 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17/over age groups in all 100m and 200m events.
In the 400m, 800m and 1500m events, awards will be made to the first three in the 16/under and 17/over categones.
In the 50m freestyle, awards will be presented to the first three overall in the event. In the 10/11 years events, all finalists will receive awards with trophies being presented to the first three.

13. The Top Boy and Top Girl trophies will be awarded to the swimmers gaining the highest total points for their top three events using the German Points Tables. A Top Club trophy and award will be presented to the club gaining the most gala points. Points scoring in all finals will be: 1st = 9 points, 2nd = 7 points, 3rd = 6 points, etc. All trophies are perpetual and must be signed for.

14. No results will be announced during the meet. Results will be posted on the notice boards. Results sheets will be available at the end of each session - price 10p per sheet.

15. Swimmers are advised not to leave their clothing or other articles in the changing rooms as neither the promoters nor the Leisure Centre management can accept responsibility for loss or damage. Please use the lockers provided.

16. An 'orange bowl' will be provided for the swimmers throughout the Meet. Please use the litter bins around the pool hall. Hot and Cold snacks will be available in the Cafe from 8.15am through to early evening.

17. Coaches passes should be collected from the table at the entrance next to the card posting boxes.

18. Training time will be available for visiting swimmers on Friday evening 5th June, 8.30pm until 9.30pm, providing prior arrangements have been made. Contact Val Mellor 01625 427297 for details.

19. The promoters reserve the right to refuse admission to any competitor or spectator.

20. Anything not covered in the above. or not printed in the programme will be at the discretion of the promoters. Any further queries, please contact Val Mellor.
