Facilities: Pool
The swimming pool is sited in the Barnet Copthall Sports Centre which caters for many other sports than swimming. The swimming complex has a competition pool, a diving pool and a training pool.
The competition pool is 25M, Eight Lane. There are anti-wave lane lines. There is electronic timing. The deep end is at the east end and the starting is done from there.
Facilities: Car Parking
Parking is free. The normal car park is usually adequate for all the competitors.
If this fills, there is further parking on the grass behind the pool. Together these handle all competitors and spectators.
Facilities: Catering
The cafeteria is at first floor level and is partitioned off by windows and gives a good view of the three pools. It is cooler than poolside.
Facilities: Seating
The swimmer and spectator seating is all round the pool on 'ledges', and on the north side at first floor level. Be careful not to slip on a ledge when it is wet.
Facilities: Other
There is a swim shop on the first floor landing.
At first floor level, there are balconies where one can sit and look down onto the competition pool, the diving pool and the training pool.

There are two sessions on consecutive weekends, both in the evening. This is the last meet of the year (unless you know otherwise).

Basically this is a 1500M meet and does not include any other events.
Programme: Relays
There are no relays.
Programme: Specials
1500m Freestyle is a special event. There are only three such events each year, the others being at Liverpool and at the Hanover/ASA Nationals.

Every swimmer receives a certificate that states their time. They also receive a set of results that includes the 50m split times.

Upper limit is Age Group O (90+). Swimmers in older groups will be combined into Group O.

The event is for men and women equally, so equal are they, that they swim in the same heats.

Open competition.
Restrictions: Other
Competitors must be registered with the ASA and be a member of an affiliated club.
If they wish to dive in at the start of the race, competitors must have reached the standard of the ASA Racing Start, and must perform a shallow racing dive. They must NOT tumble into the water head first. Competitors may start in the water.
Competitors must make themselves familiar with the emergency exits which are clearly marked and vacate the building upon hearing the alarm, should this be necessary. The emergency exits must be kept clear. Swim bags and other material must not obstruct them.
Competitors must report any hazards that they observe to an official as soon as possible.
